Wow. Can you believe it's been NINE years? How weird is that?
I can still remember where I was when I heard about it. We were in the drug store near my house, and my mom says, "We have to go home, there's something going on in the news."
So, we rushed home and turned on the TV. I watched the second plane fly into the World Trade Center. I just sat there, a terrified nine year-old, curled up against my mom. I remember being so scared.
Soon after that, we declared war on Saddam Hussein.
When I was younger, I had read the American Girl Molly books. I wondered what it would be like to live during a war. The thing is though, we don't live like they did. They sacrificed and cared about the troops over there. But here, we act like there isn't even a war going on. I can remember how fired up we got for the first year, but then, no one cared anymore.
Why doesn't this affect us, anymore? Why are we building a Mosque near Ground Zero? Why are we building anything there? If it was a Christian church I wouldn't want them to build. We have no respect for those who died in the Twin Towers and their families. We have no respect for those who died keeping America safe these nine years. Don't pretend what we did was wrong. If we hadn't gone over there, we would most likely be missing other important buildings. And who knows? We could have a war on our soil.
Those terrorists had to be stopped, and congress voted we go to war. Don't squabble about it. Don't whine about the Bush administration.
I hope this is a day praying for our nation, and a day were we honor those who died and their families.
God Bless the United States of America!
