I was poked into the waking world by Sai. He cheerfully announced that it was time for me to go home and trotted out of the small “guest room.” I was pretty sure it was actually a closet that they moved a cot into.
The base had sleeping quarters for the forces of Tyren’s army. Basically, one part of it was a giant barracks. The base was probably nearly as large as the city of London itself. It was madness.
Part of me still didn’t believe this was really happening. Part of me thought it was all a dream. However, the more rational side of my brain logically decided that it had to be real. Otherwise, it simply didn’t make sense.
After all, I couldn’t go to sleep in this world, then wake up in it eight hours later if it was a dream. Most dreams also had people you knew in it. Sai might be familiar—as if I had seen him before—but I didn’t actually know him. Besides, my dreams had never been this creative.
As I followed Sai out, I asked, “So, how do I get home? Just click my heals together?”
Sai gave me a confused look, and I realized that not only did that not have The Wizard of Oz, yet, but they didn’t even have TV’s yet. The man waved his hand in the air. “No, your magic should be sufficient to return you home.”
I had tried to explain to Sai the night before that I didn’t have any magic. The man had dismissed it. According to him, “All mages have magic.” He refused to understand that I was a simple human, not a mage.
Sai fed me some sort of bread with a bit of fruit, then pushed me out of his personal kitchen. He led me down a second series of hallways and catwalks until we arrived in a large domed room.
“What is this place?” I asked.
“This is where we practice magic and try out my inventions.” I had learned the night before that Sai made all the gadgets here. They were all made with a combination of machinery, science, and magic.
“Now,” he said, returning my mind to the present. “The watch was set to come here. However, with your magic, you can return yourself to your own time.”
“How do I do that?”
“Do you want to return home?”
“Yes, very much.”
Suddenly, the room turned blue. Sai grinned and waved, and I realized I had not exchanged proper farewells with the new people I had met. I would have liked to say goodbye to Sai and Tatianna, and thanked Tyren for saving my life. However, my vision was obscured, and the next thing I knew, I was sitting on my dorm room bed.

“Do you believe in magic?” I asked my roommate that evening. It was raining outside, and I was tired of homework.
“In a young girl’s heart?” he asked with a grin.
I rolled my eyes. “No, seriously.”
Henry shrugged. “I mean, I guess there’s stuff we don’t understand, yet. I guess that could be magic.”
I nodded thoughtfully. That made sense. I had also been thinking along those lines.
“Do you think that werewolves and vampires exist?”
“And fairies? No. Why all the weird questions?”
I shrugged. I still didn’t know if I had really gone back in time. I had no proof. Well, I did have a couple of bruises, but that could have been from sleeping, or something.

Posting early because I'll probably forget tomorrow. I like Henry. I'd trade him for my current roommate any day of the week (if I was a guy, of course).
Anyway, what do you think? Was it really just all a dream?
