The Fall of Lucifer

It was for the jealousy of man, the younger brother.
Was that earthworm to be exalted over the firstborn?
Not if he had anything to say about it.
Beelzebub encouraged action,
Apollyon cautioned, saying,
“Michael sees! No star darest move!”
But in the end agreed to a scheme.
Belial and Apollyon with their serpent’s tongues,
Stirred a rebellion.
Michael charged in, lightning bolt upraised,
The angel chorus declared allegiance against the Throne.
Beelzebub feigned innocence at the glare from the archangel,
Heaven’s field marshal exited, and the dissenters planned.
The viceroy of heaven’s master plan unfolded.
The angel Gabriel, Elohim’s messenger,
Called to Michael, “Arise, fight, for blasphemous fumes arise from the alter to Lucifer!”
So the armies assembled.
Rafael, the peace-bringer, begged the morning star,
Offered to be the mediator between angel and Creator.
The words poured as blood from his heart, scorned by Lucifer.
So the battle began, Michael and Lucifer,
Angel against angel.
The Creator’s army victorious,
Lucifer and one-third of the stars of Heaven,
Thrown from the sky.
But, Alas! as those victorious celebrated,
Belial temped man,
Man ate of the forbidden fruit and fell.
Lucifer swore to trap as many of the younger brother as possible,
To drag them into the fiery abyss with him.
A Seed was promised to redeem, and once again was there rejoicing.
I grinned widely as the curtain closed,
And bounced out to the hall.
I hugged Appollyon, congratulated Lucifer,
Grinned at Michael, and waved at Belial.
I tugged Apollyon’s wing and said,
“Good job, Ann, the play was marvelous!”

So, this is inspired by a play my friend was in. It's called "Lucifer" by Joost van den Vondel. Really good. My friend was amazing! She was Apollyon, by the way.
